Situation: You have been asked by the LDS church to help promote and share your testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel. You will create some sample posts in Instagram, Facebook/Twitter, (You will complete two total) to show others how they can help share these messages. Even if you do not have a smart phone you will need to know how to capture images and videos with a smartphone and create social media marketing pieces for companies you may work for. You will practice some of these skills in this activity. You may only use a smart phone for this activity – No computers!
1. USE A SMART PHONE TO CAPTURE MESSAGES OF CHRIST AND HIS GOSPEL (Special request from LDS
Public Affairs)
Capture an image about living a Christ-centered life and another image of a religious topic of your choice. (Examples: service, scripture study, kindness, prayer, temple or church attendance, worship, etc.)
NOTE: If you do not have a smart phone, please borrow one.
2. CAPTURE, EDIT, ADD TEXT AND PUBLISH WITH MOBILE APP

Using the mobile app of your choice (see a list in the tutorial below) or simply use the editing tools in Instagram. Add text with a mobile app. (Phonto, Typic are free apps that allow you to add text to images… See more below)

 
3. CREATE AN INSTAGRAM POST: Include these hashtags: #comm300  # JesusChrist #Mormon
Post one IMAGE INFOGRAPHIC (images with text)  showing everyday people, situations or subjects that communicate the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. Write 3-5 sentences of text to promote the message.

4. SHARE THE POST TO TWO TOTAL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS: After sharing your post on Instagram, share the same post on Facebook or Twitter from Instagram. 
FACEBOOK
A. Select Share on Facebook, before you submit your Instagram post.
B. Click the three little dots on an existing Insta post and choose Share in Facebook.
TWITTER:
A. Select Share on Twitter, before you submit your Instagram post.
B. Click the three little dots on an existing Insta post and choose Share in Twitter.

REPEAT AGAIN (so you will have 2 separate images that you share on 2 different social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook/Twitter)

6. SUBMISSION:

1. Submit a screenshot of your Instagram post and Facebook or Twitter post showing your image, text and hashtags, for each image.
2. Include links to your Instagram, Facebook or Twitter online:  www.instagram.com/username

3. Label your screenshots with your name and title. Examples:  JakeSpencer_Instagram.png;  JakeSpencer_Facebook.png;  JakeSpencer_Twitter.jpg

WORKFLOW: 7 steps to shoot-edit-publish
1. Touch the screen to focus and meter light (adjust light with finger)
2. Copy image from Camera Roll (it keeps the size & quality)
3. Paste image into Snapseed
4. Snapseed Edits:
Tune Image: Ambience? ­ Shadows?
Details: Sharpness 30% – Structure?
Others: Selective Adj – Straightening ­ Center Focus ­ HDR Scape (rarely)
Healing – Face – Filters
Optional: See list for other fancy apps
5. iWatermark (Add .png of logo with transparent background)
NOTE:  Instagram will not allow you to post the entire vertical image.
So test the size in Insta before you add the watermark. It will crop some
off the top or bottom.

Instagram Sizing tip for Photoshop:  
Vertical: 1080 x 1350px;  Horizontal: 1350 x 1080px
